Concrete Stone 19mm is the most widely used aggregate in the building industry. It is a clean, crushed stone (often called “Blue Stone”) designed to provide the structural skeleton for concrete work.

Why Choose 19mm Stone?

Maximum Strength: Large stones provide better “aggregate interlock” than small stones. This is why 19mm is the mandatory size for load-bearing foundations and house slabs.
Excellent Drainage: Because the stones are larger, they create bigger gaps (voids) when piled loosely. This makes 19mm the perfect choice for filling French drains and soakaways.
Economical: Generally the most cost-effective stone option for bulk concrete volume.

Application Guide:

Concrete Mixing: Mix with River Sand and Cement to cast foundations, floor slabs, and driveways.
Drainage: The standard stone used to cover drainage pipes in sub-soil drainage systems (French drains).
Driveways: Can be used as a loose driveway gravel, though it is rougher to walk on than 13mm stone.

Common Questions:

Is 19mm or 13mm better for drainage? 19mm is better. The larger stones create larger air gaps between them, allowing water to flow through faster. It is less likely to get clogged by silt than the smaller 13mm stone.
Can I walk on this barefoot? We wouldn’t recommend it! 19mm crushed stone has sharp edges. For garden paths or walkways, we recommend the smaller 13mm Stone or smooth pebbles.
What is the ratio for mixing concrete? A classic “old school” mix is 1:2:3 (1 Cement, 2 River Sand, 3 Stone). However, for modern structural work, always consult your engineer or cement packet instructions.
