Washed River Sand is the most versatile aggregate on any construction site. Unlike “Building Sand” (Pit Sand) which contains clay to make it sticky, River Sand is thoroughly washed to remove impurities. This results in a “sharp” sand that locks together tightly, essential for high-strength applications.

Why You Need River Sand:

Structural Strength: Clay weakens concrete. Because our River Sand is clean, it ensures your cement bonds directly to the aggregate, creating a harder, more durable slab.
Better Drainage: Its coarse texture allows water to filter through, making it ideal for bedding pipes or mixing into garden soil to improve aeration.
Versatile: Use it for everything from floor screeds and toppings to laying pavers.

Application Guide:

Concrete Mixes: The standard sand for mixing with stone and cement for foundations and slabs.
Floor Screeds: The preferred sand for the final cement layer on floors (before tiling or carpets).
Paving Bedding: Excellent for leveling the ground before laying paving bricks (though some prefer Crusher Dust for this).
Gardening: Mix into heavy clay soil to improve drainage for lawns and flower beds.

Common Questions:

Can I use River Sand for bricklaying? You can, but it’s not ideal. Because it is washed (no clay), it isn’t “sticky.” The mortar will tend to slide off your trowel and won’t bond as easily to the bricks. Builders prefer Red Building Sand for brickwork.
Can I use it for plastering? No, it is too coarse. If you try to plaster with River Sand, the finish will be rough and gritty. Use Plaster Sand or Yellow Building Sand for smooth walls.
