Get the Good Stuff: Rock-Free Sifted Topsoil.
There is nothing worse than ordering a load of soil and spending the whole weekend raking out stones and rubbish. Our Sifted Topsoil is mechanically screened to ensure you get a fine, consistent texture that is a pleasure to work with.
Why Pay for Sifted Topsoil?
Labor Saving: Because it spreads smoothly and evenly, you save hours of manual labor raking and leveling.
Better Root Contact: The fine texture ensures that grass sods (instant lawn) make perfect contact with the soil, leading to faster rooting.
Versatile: It is clean enough to use anywhere—from filling holes in your lawn to topping up flower beds.
Application Guide:
New Lawns: The industry standard base for laying Instant Lawn. Spread a layer of 5-10cm to give your grass a soft, fertile bed.
Leveling: Excellent for fixing minor dips and hollows in existing gardens.
Flower Beds: Use this to create the bulk volume of your bed, then mix in Mushroom Compost for extra nutrients.
Note on Nutrients: Our topsoil is not fertile soil. For vegetable gardens or heavy feeders, we recommend mixing this 70/30 with our Mushroom Compost or Chicken Manure to boost the nutrient levels.
Delivery: We deliver bulk loads of Sifted Topsoil to Pretoria East, servicing residential and commercial projects.
Common Questions:
What is the difference between Sifted Topsoil and Lawn Dressing? Sifted Topsoil is pure natural soil (cleaned). It is used for bulk volume (e.g., laying a new lawn or filling a 5cm dip). Lawn Dressing is Topsoil mixed with Compost. It is used for maintenance (e.g., a thin 1cm layer to feed existing grass).
Is it weed-free? We screen our soil to remove existing weed roots and plant matter. However, no natural soil can be guaranteed 100% seed-free as wind blows seeds onto stockpiles. Our sifting process significantly reduces the risk compared to unsifted soil.
Can I use this for filling deep holes? You can, but it’s expensive! For holes deeper than 20cm, we recommend using our cheaper Unsifted Filling for the bottom layer, and then using Sifted Topsoil for the top 10cm.
