Mini Dump Rock (55mm and smaller) gives you the natural, textured look of mined stone without the massive weight of standard dump rock. These stones are typically the size of a golf ball, plum, or smaller, making them incredibly versatile for detailed landscaping projects where huge boulders would look out of place.
Why Choose the Mini Dump Rock?
-
Small-Aperture Gabion Baskets: The perfect size for residential Gabion baskets, benches, or low walls that use a smaller, fine wire mesh (under 50mm). They pack together tightly to create a neat, dense, and stylish feature.
-
Garden Borders: Use them to create a distinct, natural border between your lawn and flower beds. They stop grass runners and look fantastic without overwhelming small spaces.
-
Erosion Control: Great for covering slopes. The rocks slow down rainwater runoff, preventing soil erosion while allowing water to seep gracefully into the ground.
Application Guide
-
Decorative: Spread them around succulents, aloes, or architectural plants for a stunning, water-wise “desert” aesthetic.
-
Drainage: Ideal for lining storm-water channels or French drains where you want the drainage solution to look attractive.
-
Security: While smaller than standard dump rock, a thick layer of this under a window still crunches and makes noise when walked on, acting as a brilliant deterrent.

Common Questions
How big is the “Mini” Dump Rock? Think of it as roughly the size of a golf ball or an apricot (approx. 55mm or smaller). Our Medium Dump Rock is larger (55mm–80mm), and standard dump rock is much larger still. This “Mini” size is incredibly easy to move by hand, spread with a rake, and fits perfectly into smaller garden spaces.
Can I use this for Gabion Baskets? Yes, but mesh size is critical! Because these stones are 55mm or smaller, they are preferred for custom garden gabion baskets (like benches or planters) that use a smaller wire mesh (e.g., 25mm x 25mm). If you are using standard 50mm x 50mm mesh, you will need our Medium Dump Rock instead, so the stones do not fall through the gaps.
Is it washed? Dump rock comes straight from the mine, so it is usually dusty when delivered. You do not need to scrub it! Once you spray it down with a garden hose or wait for the first good rain, the true, beautiful colors of the stone will shine through.
